Communication Electroacoustics Working Group | CEA

CEA aims to develop standards for devices that can capture and analyse sound, such as mobile phones and speakers that respond to an individual’s voice. The storage of an individual’s voice and other data collected can be used to identify individuals and trace their voice communications and movements.

Published standard: IEEE Standard for Measuring Electroacoustic Performance of Communication Devices published in 2019, provides methods to evaluate and measure the performance of electroacoustic devices that enable speech communication. The methods in this standard specifically apply to devices that connect to analogue, digital, Voice over Internet Protocol (VoIP), and other local area networks (LANs).
